Hello! I’m Berline, a psychotherapist, neuroscientist, and educator deeply committed to supporting individuals and families whose lives are shaped by migration, collective responsibility, and quiet resilience. My work centers on the emotional, relational, and spiritual weight of immigration, intergenerational trauma, cultural identity, parenting, grief, and relationship changes.
It’s often assumed that immigrating to Canada guarantees a better life. But for many, the journey is far more complicated. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, holding pain silently, navigating parenting struggles, or carrying the weight of being “the strong one,” please know that you don’t have to do it alone.
In our work together, we’ll gently explore your experiences with care and curiosity. I integrate your cultural values and spiritual beliefs into the therapy process to help you move toward clarity, healing, connection, and renewed hope. At Luminary Hope, you don’t have to choose between your culture and your well-being. You can have both.

Hello! I’m Joanne, a Couple and Family Therapist passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families on their journey toward healing, growth, and meaningful connection. My professional path began in nursing, where I developed a foundation in compassion and human care, which naturally led me to explore mental health and relational dynamics. Teaching as a clinical professor at La Cité Collégiale gave me insight into the human condition from both medical and psychosocial perspectives, helping me create safe and supportive spaces for clients.
I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology with a specialization in Couple and Family Therapy from Saint Paul University. I use a systemic and integrative approach, drawing from humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, and narrative therapies, and I incorporate spirituality for clients who value a mind-body-spirit connection. This allows me to guide clients through life transitions, conflict, emotional distress, and identity questions with empathy and sensitivity.
As an immigrant woman, I bring cultural awareness and lived experience to my work, supporting clients navigating immigration challenges, intergenerational conflict, career transitions, or disconnection from cultural roots. Fluent in English, French, and Haitian Creole, I ensure therapy can happen in the language that feels most authentic.
I prioritize active listening, emotional validation, and empowerment, creating a space where clients feel seen, respected, and supported. Guided by faith and the belief in restoration, my work is inspired by 1 Peter 5:7: “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” Therapy is not just my profession—it is my mission to help people heal, grow, and rediscover hope.

As a therapist, my goal is to create a compassionate and collaborative space where individuals, couples, and families can explore their challenges and reconnect with their strengths, values, and sense of meaning. I believe that healing happens when we honor the whole person—including their cultural identity, life experiences, and spirituality. At Luminary Hope, I walk alongside clients as they navigate transitions, build resilience, and find renewed hope.
I support clients through a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, divorce, self-esteem concerns, workplace stress, and life transitions. I have a special interest in supporting women through midlife and menopausal changes, as well as working with neurodiverse individuals, including those with autism and ADHD. I view each person’s story as unique and sacred, and I approach therapy with deep respect for diversity and lived experience.
I hold a master’s degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy with a specialization in Couple and Family Therapy from Saint Paul University, where I also completed an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Human Sciences and Spirituality. My background includes additional training in Organizational Leadership and Intervention with People with Disabilities, as well as ongoing postgraduate studies in Autism and Behavioural Sciences at La Cité.
My therapeutic style is integrative and strength-based, drawing from Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples (EFT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Bilingual in French and English, I offer both in-person and online sessions to ensure accessibility and comfort.
Above all, I see therapy as a journey of light and hope—helping clients reconnect with themselves, their culture, and their inner wisdom to create a life that feels meaningful and whole.
